History & Ownership

Boot Hill Casino & Resort was approved by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission in December 2008 and opened its doors to the public in December 2009. It operates as a state-owned facility under the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act, making it the first casino to open under the 2007 expanded gaming law and one of only four state-owned casinos in Kansas. The property is managed by BHCMC, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Butler National Corporation (OTC: BUKS), which provides professional management and operational services.

Facilities & Gaming

Located on US-50 highway in Dodge City, the resort draws on the city’s Wild West heritage, with décor inspired by the historic Boot Hill cemetery and frontier themes. The casino floor offers over 600 electronic gaming machines across a wide variety of denominations and themes, along with table games including blackjack, roulette, craps, and a dedicated live poker room. The property also includes a hotel, multiple dining options, and event space. The Club Fun loyalty program provides free membership with points on play, exclusive promotions, discounts, and event access.

Partnerships & Mobile Sports Betting

In 2021, Boot Hill Casino entered market access agreements with DraftKings Inc. and Bally’s Corporation to offer mobile sports betting in Kansas. DraftKings launched its mobile sportsbook in 2022, and Bally’s also launched a mobile sportsbook under the arrangement. These partnerships allow Kansas residents to place bets online through the respective apps, expanding the casino’s reach beyond its physical location.

Community Impact & Recent Developments

The casino contributes a portion of its revenue to the Mariah Fund, a community reinvestment program supporting health, education, and social services in southwest Kansas. As of early 2025, Boot Hill Casino reported monthly revenue of approximately $3.5 million. In 2023, Ryan Deutsch, a longtime team member since 2012, was appointed General Manager. The property continues to be a significant employer and entertainment destination in the region.
