DOSarrest Internet Security Ltd. was established in 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia, as a pure-play DDoS mitigation provider. The company quickly differentiated itself by offering a cloud-based, fully managed service that required no on-premises hardware, positioning it as an accessible solution for businesses of all sizes. Its early focus on high-capacity scrubbing centres and a self-learning mitigation algorithm helped it gain traction in a market increasingly threatened by large-scale network attacks.

Business Model and Core Products

The company’s flagship platform, DataCenter Defender (DCD), ingested all traffic destined for a customer’s subnet, scrubbed malicious packets using a multi-layered analysis engine, and tunneled only legitimate traffic back using asymmetric routing. In 2019, DOSarrest announced the addition of AI-driven, real-time algorithm generation, enabling automatic mitigation of sophisticated attacks without a learning period. Packet-by-packet inspection of TCP flags, TTL, payload patterns, and source/destination ports allowed the system to isolate targeted IPs within seconds.

Beyond DCD, DOSarrest offered a cloud-based Web Application Firewall (WAF) to protect against OWASP Top 10 threats such as SQL injection and XSS, a Vulnerability Testing and Optimization (VTO) service for proactive assessments, a Cyber Awareness Preparation Platform (CAPP) for employee security training, and cloud-based global load balancing to distribute traffic across multiple data centres during attacks. All services were delivered as a fully managed, subscription-based model with 24/7 support.

Market Position and Acquisition

DOSarrest served a diverse clientele spanning finance, government, utilities, gaming, ITC, and online retail. It maintained a global presence through scrubbing centres at major internet exchange points in Vancouver, New York, Los Angeles, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong. In January 2021, German cybersecurity firm Link11 GmbH acquired DOSarrest to expand its footprint into North America and Asia-Pacific. The deal included DOSarrest’s Vancouver headquarters, its Hong Kong network infrastructure, and its customer base. Following the acquisition, DOSarrest ceased independent operations; all sales, support, and technology were integrated into Link11’s platform, which now operates 14 scrubbing clusters worldwide. The DOSarrest website redirects to Link11, and the brand is referenced only in partner contexts such as Telehouse.

Legacy and Current Status

For analysts and evaluators, DOSarrest’s legacy is best understood as a technology asset within Link11’s integrated platform, rather than as a standalone vendor. The company no longer maintains separate leadership or sales channels; all corporate functions reside within Link11 GmbH. While the DOSarrest name occasionally appears in historical partner listings, its intellectual property and algorithms have been absorbed into Link11’s next-generation cyber resilience offering.
