Edgewater Casino Resort is a mid-scale riverfront casino hotel in Laughlin, Nevada, opened in 1981. It offers over 1,000 guest rooms, a 57,457-square-foot casino with slot machines, race and sports book, and table games, along with multiple dining outlets, a pool and spa, and live entertainment at the Edge Pavilion and L.A. Comedy Club. The property is owned by Vici Properties and operated by Golden Entertainment, participating in the True Rewards loyalty program with the adjacent Aquarius Casino Resort. After a series of ownership changes from Circus Circus Enterprises to MGM Mirage and then to Marnell & Sher Gaming, Golden Entertainment acquired Edgewater in 2019. A major real-estate transaction in 2026 transferred the land to Vici Properties as part of Golden's going-private move. Edgewater remains a key destination on the Colorado River, competing with other Laughlin casinos.
Detailed Review
History & Ownership
Edgewater opened in 1981, but its early years were marred by licensing complications when the Nevada Gaming Control Board raised concerns about alleged ties between some ownership partners and members of the Detroit crime family. The remaining partners were forced to buy out those shares. In 1983, Circus Circus Enterprises acquired the property for $17 million, later rebranding as Mandalay Resort Group. When MGM Mirage acquired Mandalay in 2005, it took ownership of Edgewater. In 2007, MGM Mirage sold Edgewater and the adjacent Colorado Belle to Marnell & Sher Gaming for $200 million. Golden Entertainment purchased both properties in January 2019 for $190 million. In 2026, as part of Golden’s going-private transaction, Vici Properties purchased the real estate and leased it back to Golden.
