History and Growth

Info-Tech Research Group was launched in 1997 by Joel McLean as a niche research provider. The company began building industry-focused content in 2003, launched advisory services (analyst calls and guided implementations) in 2008, and introduced its disruptive Blueprints methodology in 2010. That same year, McLean & Company was created as an HR advisory division. Diagnostics – tools that transform member data into actionable insights – were rolled out in 2012. In 2015 the company launched myPolicies, a web-based policy management solution, and in 2016 added contract reviews and training programs while holding the first Info-Tech LIVE conference. The Vendor Services division debuted in 2017, bringing SoftwareReviews to market. By 2022 the headcount surpassed 1,000 employees, and in 2023 Info-Tech launched leadership summits and its Exponential IT initiative. The 2024 product releases included an AI Marketplace, an AI Workforce Development program, and a CIO Playbook. The company continues to expand globally, with offices in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore.

SoftwareReviews aggregates and analyzes user reviews of enterprise software, offering impartial vendor insights that power Info-Tech's software evaluation guidance. myPolicies is a cloud-based policy management system for creating, distributing, and tracking compliance policies. McLean & Company is a dedicated division providing HR research and advisory services, including employee engagement and talent management solutions. The AI Marketplace and AI Workforce Development offerings, launched in 2024, help members evaluate, procure, and build skills around artificial intelligence technologies. Its diagnostic-driven, results-focused approach has attracted a large mid-market and enterprise client base. The company was recognized in 2025 by Deloitte as one of North America’s fastest-growing companies. A November 2025 partnership with TechTables aims to amplify public-sector IT conversations, and the firm continues to invest in AI capabilities.
