History and structure

Founded in 2012 by Trivikraman Thampy and headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, Junglee Games operates as the real-money skill-gaming arm of the Games24x7 group, the wider company created by Thampy and Bhavin Pandya. The group also operates RummyCircle, which is a sibling brand rather than a Junglee Games product. Junglee Games India Private Limited has built its own game technology, including in-house RNG integration, anti-fraud systems, KYC/AML and responsible-gaming tooling, and employs a workforce of several hundred, concentrated in Bengaluru.

Products and business model

The flagship product is Junglee Rummy, a web and mobile real-money rummy platform offering cash games, tournaments and multiple rummy variants, legally operated on the basis that rummy is a game of skill under Indian law. In the early 2020s, around 2021, the company added Junglee Poker, entering India's fast-growing online poker segment. The company earns revenue primarily through the platform's cut, commonly known as rake, of real-money cash games and tournaments, alongside related promotional and in-app purchases.

Market position

Junglee Games competes with RummyCircle, A23, MPL Rummy and other rummy brands, and with dedicated poker operators such as PokerBaazi and Adda52 in poker. It is one of the older and more established real-money skill-gaming studios in India, having marked ten years of operations in 2022. Its in-house development and compliance-heavy positioning have become more important since India imposed a 28% goods-and-services tax on the full deposit value of real-money games in October 2023.

The Peter Jackson chapter

Junglee Games attracted international industry attention in the mid-2010s when it appointed Peter Jackson, a British iGaming executive, as chief executive. His subsequent departure was examined by iGaming Future in an investigative feature titled 'It's a Junglee Out There: What Caused Peter Jackson's Downfall?', which linked the exit to the interplay of regulatory pressure, domestic competition and operational strains. After Jackson left, founder Trivikraman Thampy resumed the top executive role and the company continued as one of India's leading online rummy operators.

Regulatory context

Real-money rummy is classified as a game of skill in most Indian jurisdictions, but a minority of states have imposed restrictions or bans, and the central government's 28% GST regime has materially changed the economics of the sector. Junglee Games has responded by emphasizing compliance, player verification and responsible-gaming tools in its public positioning.
