Detailed Review
History & Ownership
OpenBet traces its origins to Orbis Technology Ltd, founded in London on February 2, 1996, by Clive Haworth, James Caddy, and Charles Malir. The company launched its first sports betting application, "Betonline," as a joint venture with City Index and Sporting Life for the 1998 World Cup. In 1999, it launched the OpenBet Casino. Orbis was acquired by NDS Group (a News Corporation company) in December 2000 and renamed OpenBet in 2010 after its flagship software platform. A management buyout led by Vitruvian Partners valued the company at £208 million in 2011. NYX Gaming Group acquired OpenBet in 2016, and Scientific Games Corporation bought NYX in 2017, placing OpenBet within the SG Digital division. In September 2021, Endeavor Group (now TKO Group Holdings) announced a $1.2 billion acquisition, completed in 2022. In March 2025, a management buyout backed by executives including Ariel Emanuel and CEO Jordan Levin valued the company at $450 million, creating the independent entity OB Global Holdings LLC.
