Company History and Founding Story

Paris Las Vegas was initially envisioned by Bally Entertainment, the owner of the adjacent Bally's Las Vegas, with plans announced in May 1995. Construction officially broke ground on April 18, 1997, on a 24-acre parcel previously occupied by the Galaxy Motel and a small strip mall. The resort, designed by a collaboration of architectural firms including Leidenfrost/Horowitz & Assoc. and Bergman, Walls & Assoc., aimed to recreate the essence of Paris with its distinctive replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and other famous Parisian structures.

The resort officially opened its doors on September 1, 1999, following a private VIP party and an opening ceremony that included fireworks launched from the Eiffel Tower replica. The project cost an estimated $785 million and initially employed 4,200 workers. In 1998, prior to its opening, Hilton acquired Bally Entertainment and subsequently transferred ownership of its gaming properties, including Paris Las Vegas, to Park Place Entertainment, which was later renamed Caesars Entertainment in 2003.
