Booming Games marks two years in South Africa, aims for market leadership

2026-07-14

Booming Games celebrates two years in South Africa, aiming to become the market's top provider within two years. The supplier has grown to over 145 live titles and partnerships with tier-one operators including World Sports Betting.

Booming Games is celebrating its second anniversary of operating in South Africa and has set a goal to become the country’s leading games provider within the next one to two years. The supplier entered the market two years ago this month, making South Africa a cornerstone of its global growth strategy.

The South African online casino market, projected to grow at nearly 10% annually through 2030, has proven fertile ground for Booming Games. Starting with just one operator partnership in July 2022, the company now works with a range of tier-one operators across Africa. Its team has doubled in size during this period, and further headcount expansion is expected. Industry recognition has followed, with the firm shortlisted at the SiGMA Africa Awards and the iGA Summit Awards earlier this year.

Over 145 titles are now tested, approved, and live in the Mpumalanga, Western Cape, and Eastern Cape provinces. Last month, Booming Games entered a strategic partnership with World Sports Betting (WSB), one of South Africa’s most established operators, integrating a selection of its premium slots into WSB’s platform.

Localised approach

Localisation is central to Booming Games’ strategy. The company is assembling a team with deep market expertise and a customer-focused development approach, blending proven game mechanics with themes that resonate locally. Beyond product adaptation, Booming Games also engages directly with players at cultural events such as Durban July, the country’s premier horse racing and social gathering. For the second consecutive year, the supplier had a prominent stand at the event, offering attendees the chance to try new games and win exclusive prizes.

Future plans

Booming Games aims to establish a presence in every remaining South African province and to become the top provider in the market by 2026. To achieve this, the company will invest heavily in expanding operator relationships, targeting aggregator platforms as new channels enter the market. New game releases will continue at a steady pace, spanning classic slots, crash games, and instant games. Existing titles will also receive updates, such as additional levels or extra spins, to enhance player experience.

Leadership quotes

Max Niehusen, founder of Booming Games, said: “South Africa is a land of opportunity for innovative, entertaining gaming.” He noted the country already drives the largest share of the firm’s African revenue and that the company is well placed to expand its offering further.

Solomon Godwin, head of Africa at Booming Games, emphasised the importance of a localised strategy: “We understand the South African gaming landscape better than anybody.” He cautioned against a one-size-fits-all approach to the continent, stating that operators who fail to tailor their offerings risk falling short. Godwin added that continuous improvement and innovation are central to Booming Games’ DNA.
