Brazilian Actress Again Demands Arrest of Betting Influencer as Court Orders Ad Compliance

Brazilian actress Luana Piovani has again called for the arrest of influencer Virginia Fonseca after a court ordered Fonseca to remove non-compliant betting ads. Separately, prosecutors are seeking BR$120 million in damages over alleged deceptive advertising practices by Fonseca and operator Blaze.
Court Orders Removal of Non-Compliant Ads
A court in Brazil's Distrito Federal has given influencer Virginia Fonseca 48 hours to remove betting advertisements that fail to meet transparency requirements. The ruling, which partially granted an appeal from the Public Ministry of the Distrito Federal and Territories (MPDFT), found that Fonseca and operator Blaze engaged in deceptive advertising by embedding sponsored gambling promotions within her personal content such as travel and family posts. Judge Renato Rodovalho Scussel emphasized that promotional material retains its commercial character regardless of the surrounding context and must be clearly labeled as advertising.
Separately, the MPDFT has filed a civil public action against Fonseca and Blaze seeking collective moral damages of at least BR$120 million. The complaint, which follows consumer complaints, alleges the pair systematically blurred the line between genuine personal posts and paid betting promotions. According to reports cited by actress Luana Piovani, the MPDFT's case specifically focuses on betting advertising activity during the 2026 World Cup.
Piovani's Renewed Attacks
Luana Piovani, a well-known actress, has again called for Fonseca's arrest in a social media post. "Arrested!!! We want her arrested, and all the other (...) who turn this disgrace into a way of getting rich," Piovani wrote. The latest outburst came after media coverage of both the transparency ruling and the civil action.
This is not Piovani's first criticism of Fonseca's betting promotions. In April, she referenced Fonseca's children in a post condemning the influencer's gambling-related advertising, prompting Fonseca to threaten legal action. Piovani used similar language earlier this month calling for Fonseca's imprisonment after the transparency ruling was first reported.
Both the court order restricting Fonseca's advertising and the MPDFT's civil action remain under judicial review with no final verdicts. Fonseca, one of Brazil's most visible promoters of online betting platforms, has drawn ongoing scrutiny from regulators and consumer advocates amid broader debate over marketing practices in the country's regulated betting sector.
