GR8_Tech reports that 42% of World Cup turnover came from matches involving Argentina, England, France, or Spain, with Argentina the most-backed team. The company will release its full tournament data on 20 August.
New data from GR8_Tech shows that more than two-fifths of all World Cup turnover on its platform came from matches involving Argentina, England, France, or Spain. The 42% share is unsurprising given those four teams reached the semi-finals of the 2026 tournament. Argentina drew the highest individual backing at 12.5% of bets, narrowly ahead of eventual champions Spain by just 0.09 percentage points. GR8_Tech, a Cyprus-based betting and gaming technology firm, released this initial snapshot ahead of a fuller data set due in August. The average margin across the tournament exceeded 12%. Betting intensity jumped sharply as the competition progressed: average stakes during the knockout rounds were 53% higher than in the group stage, while the final itself saw stakes 89% above the tournament average. “The World Cup generates a huge amount of data, but the value comes from understanding what sits behind it,” said Dinos Doxiadis, Head of Sportsbook Business at GR8_Tech. He added that the session aims to help operators spot patterns they might otherwise miss and turn a month of activity into better future decisions. The remaining data—covering live betting, bet builders, margin dynamics, peak load moments, and player acquisition trends—will be unveiled during “The Locker Room” event on 20 August.
