Iowa Lottery closed fiscal year 2026 with $469.6m in sales, its third-best result in 41 years, while proceeds to state programmes rose 10% to $95.1m.
Iowa Lottery sales reached $469.6m in fiscal year 2026, marking the state operator's third-best annual performance in its 41-year history. According to figures for the year ending June 30, total sales climbed 8 per cent year-on-year, while proceeds directed to state programmes grew 10 per cent to $95.1m.
Player prizes during the period amounted to $305.6m. Retailer commissions came to $30.5m, an increase of nearly 8 per cent compared with the prior fiscal year.
Scratch tickets remained the dominant product category, generating $291.4m in sales — more than 62 per cent of the overall total, a share broadly consistent with the previous year.
Powerball recorded one of the sharpest gains, with sales reaching $66.5m, up 77 per cent. The surge was helped by the second- and third-largest jackpots in Powerball history, which occurred in September and December.
