Sports Toto has launched a nationwide contest in South Korea with video and essay categories to raise gambling harm awareness and share prevention strategies, offering KRW 14.3 million in prizes and accepting entries until August 23.
South Korea's Sports Toto has initiated a countrywide contest designed to heighten awareness of gambling-related harm and encourage the public to share effective prevention strategies. The effort is backed by the Seoul Olympic Memorial Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, Korea Sports Leisure, and the Seoul Namdaemun Police Station.
Competition format and deadlines
Submissions for the 2026 Sports Promotion Lottery Gambling Problem Prevention Content Contest will be accepted until August 23. The competition is divided into two categories: short-form videos and practical essays. Video entries must be vertical, under one minute in length, and tackle themes such as youth gambling, illegal gambling, addiction risks, or practical prevention measures. Participants may enter either individually or in teams of up to three people.
The essay category is open only to individual entrants and calls for personal or observed accounts related to gambling prevention or efforts to curb excessive betting habits. Essays may be up to four A4 pages long.
Age-based categories
Organizers have split the contest into adult and youth divisions. The adult division is available to the general public, including university students and military personnel, while the youth division is aimed at middle and high school students.
Prizes and ceremony
A total of 16 entries will receive awards — 10 for short-form videos and six for essays. In the video category, six adult and four youth entries will be selected; in the essay category, three winners will be chosen from each division. The total prize pool amounts to KRW 14.3 million. The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 18.
Broader context
The initiative is part of wider efforts tied to the Sports Promotion Lottery to boost public understanding of gambling risks and strengthen prevention-focused education, particularly among younger demographics.
