Alfredo Mantovano
Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in the Italian Government
Alfredo Mantovano is an Italian magistrate and politician currently serving as Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Giorgia Meloni's government. In this role he is also delegated to security and intelligence matters. Born in Rome on 17 March 1953, Mantovano entered the Italian judiciary in 1979 and spent more than a decade as a magistrate, including anti-mafia prosecutor work in Reggio Calabria. He left the judiciary in 1994 and was elected to the Italian Parliament with Forza Italia, beginning a long career in public office.
His subsequent roles have included Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior, Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and Deputy Minister of the Interior. From 2018 to 2022 he was a member of the Italian Senate, after which he returned to the Prime Minister's Office in the Meloni government as Undersecretary of State.
