Boris Šťastný
Czech Minister for Sport, Prevention and Health
MUDr. Boris Šťastný is a Czech physician, politician, and manager who serves as the Minister for Sport, Prevention and Health of the Czech Republic. In this role, he oversees national strategies for sports development, public health prevention, and the regulation of gambling and gaming addictions. He has been actively involved in EU-supported projects focusing on mental health and the prevention of online gambling and gaming addiction among young people.
Šťastný has publicly commented on match-fixing investigations in Czech football, describing betting-influenced sport as 'a scourge of sport.' He has also proposed regular payments similar to a pension for top athletes and personally congratulated Czech tennis winner Linda Nosková.
Prior to his ministerial appointment, Šťastný served as a member of the Czech Chamber of Deputies and worked as a doctor and manager in health and social services. He holds a medical degree (MUDr.) from Charles University.
