Charles Ritchie
Co-founder and Trustee, Gambling With Lives
Charles Ritchie, together with his wife Liz Ritchie, founded Gambling With Lives in 2017 after their 24‑year‑old son Jack took his own life as a result of a gambling addiction. The charity works to raise awareness of gambling harm, campaigns for stronger regulation, and provides peer support for families affected by gambling‑related suicide.
Charles has appeared in UK national media including BBC and Sky News, and has given evidence to the DCMS Select Committee on gambling reform. He and Liz have met with multiple UK government ministers to advocate for the policies eventually included in the 2023 Gambling Act White Paper. His public profile is entirely focused on charity advocacy and gambling harm prevention.
