Chris Anderson is a licensed marriage and family therapist with 46 years of experience, specializing in gambling addiction for 38 years. He began his own recovery from severe gambling disorder in 1987 after meeting psychiatrist Dr. Robert Custer at a Gamblers Anonymous meeting in Dallas, which set him on a path to become a leading clinician and advocate in the field.

Anderson holds a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in Clinical Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of the Lake University. He is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a Board Approved Clinical Consultant for the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board.

He served as Executive Director of the Illinois Council on Problem and Compulsive Gambling from 1994 to 1999 and has conducted over 300 advanced clinical trainings. Anderson has testified before the National Gambling Impact Study Commission and the Illinois Gaming Board, and his work is frequently cited in major media as a leading voice on gambling addiction in the U.S.
