Damon Jones

Damon Darron Jones (born August 25, 1976, Galveston, Texas) is a former professional basketball player and assistant coach who spent 11 seasons in the NBA as a three-point specialist, most notably with the Cleveland Cavaliers. After retiring as a player, he transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant for the Canton Charge of the NBA G League during the 2015–2016 season and later for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2016 to 2018. He also worked as an unofficial volunteer assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022–2023 campaign.

In October 2025, Jones was arrested by the FBI in connection with an illegal gambling operation. On April 28, 2026, he pleaded guilty in Brooklyn federal court to two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud: one for selling non‑public NBA player information to sports bettors and another for participating in a rigged poker ring. He is currently awaiting sentencing, scheduled for January 6, 2027. Jones is the first defendant to plead guilty in a high-profile federal probe that has scrutinized the intersection of professional sports and illicit gambling.
