David Edelman

Senior Lecturer, Harvard Business School; Founder, Edelman Advisory Services LLC

David Edelman is a globally recognized marketing and digital transformation expert. He earned both his AB in Economics (1982) and MBA (1986) from Harvard University, beginning his career at The Boston Consulting Group where he became a Partner and Vice President. In 1999 he joined Digitas, becoming its Chief Marketing Officer in 2002, and later served as a Partner at McKinsey & Company co-leading the Global Digital Marketing and Sales Practice from 2008 to 2016.

From 2016 to 2020, Edelman was the first Chief Marketing Officer of Aetna, where he spearheaded a consumer-centric rebrand and the creation of the “Office of the Consumer.” Since July 2021, he has been a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School teaching marketing, and he also founded Edelman Advisory Services LLC, advising CEOs and CMOs on AI-driven personalization and digital transformation. He co-authored the book Personalized! Customer Strategy in the Age of AI (Harvard Business Review Press, 2024) and has been recognized by Forbes as one of the “Most Influential CMOs in the World” and by AdWeek as a top marketing and technology executive.

Edelman is a frequent keynote speaker at major iGaming and gambling industry conferences, including the Better Gambling Forum during UNGA2025 and the SBC Summit Americas. His presentations focus on responsible gambling, ethical AI, and customer personalization, bridging his expertise in marketing strategy with the unique regulatory and player-protection challenges of the sector.
