
Dr Ian Gauci is the Managing Partner of GTG, a full-service Maltese law firm established in 1997. With over 20 years of legal experience, he leads the firm's business development, the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice, and the Legal Futures, Innovation & Legaltech sectors. He is recognised as a market leader in technology and fintech law.
He founded GTG's top-tier fintech practice and is ranked Band 1 by Chambers & Partners in FinTech and a Leading Individual by Legal 500. His work spans blockchain, digital assets, cryptocurrencies, electronic communications, data protection, AI, and gaming/gambling. He has advised regulators including the Malta Communications Authority, Malta Business Registry, Malta Gaming Authority, and Malta Financial Services Authority on matters from electronic signatures to cybersecurity and AI.
Dr Gauci was a strategic advisor on Malta’s National Blockchain Strategy Taskforce and co-authored the Maltese Electronic Communications Framework and the Digital Innovation Laws. He has lectured Legal Futures and Technology at the University of Malta and is an international speaker and author on AI in gaming.
