Dr. Jane Makau serves as the Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), the gambling regulator in Kenya. In this capacity, she has become a prominent advocate for responsible gambling across Africa, spearheading initiatives such as the 'Chukua Control' campaign and pushing for unified regulation through continental forums like the Continental Regulators Forum. She has outlined eight pillars of responsible gambling, including informed choices, control and limits, protection of vulnerable groups, and corporate social responsibility.
Beyond her work in gambling regulation, Dr. Makau also chairs the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority (NWHSA), where her focus is on governance, resource mobilization, and productivity mainstreaming.
