Heather Maurer
Partner and Co-Chair of Gaming, Horse Racing & Wagering Practice at Harris Beach Murtha PLLC
Heather M. Maurer is a US gaming and administrative-law attorney and the author of G3 Newswire’s “Letter From America” column. She is a partner and co-chair of the Gaming, Horse Racing and Wagering Practice at Harris Beach Murtha PLLC, where she focuses on licensing, regulatory compliance, investigations, and enforcement for gaming, horse racing, and wagering clients.
Before private practice, Maurer worked in New York state government, including as an Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Attorney General’s Office and as counsel to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and the New York State Gaming Commission. Those roles involved her in the regulatory and enforcement landscape for racing and wagering in New York.
She is also a regular G3 Newswire columnist. In the 60th edition of “Letter From America,” Maurer argued that illegal iGaming now outweighs the regulated US market, underscoring the scale of unlicensed offshore play relative to legal US offerings.
