Ivan Toney

Striker at Al-Ahli Saudi FC

Ivan Benjamin Elvis Toney is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for Al-Ahli Saudi FC and the England national team. Born in Northampton on 16 March 1996, he progressed through Northampton Town's academy and made his senior debut in 2013 before joining Newcastle United in 2015.

After loan spells with Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, and Wigan Athletic, Toney moved permanently to Peterborough United in 2018. His goalscoring form attracted Brentford, where he helped the club win promotion to the Premier League and establish itself in the top flight.

In May 2023 the Football Association charged Toney with 262 breaches of betting rules, leading to an eight-month ban from all football activities, a £50,000 fine, and education sessions. The case became a landmark in football gambling enforcement and is widely cited in discussions of betting-related misconduct. He returned to competitive action in January 2024 and was named in England's squad for UEFA Euro 2024.

Toney joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli in August 2024, continuing his career outside English football while remaining an England international. His playing style combines physical hold-up play, penalty reliability, and sharp finishing.
