Jean-Luc Moner-Banet

Jean-Luc Moner-Banet chairs the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (Gespa), the Swiss federal authority responsible for licensing and supervising casinos and licensed online gambling under the Swiss Money Gaming Act. A Swiss lawyer from the canton of Valais, he took up the role when the new regulatory regime came into force on 1 January 2019, becoming the first president of the restructured federal gambling supervisory body.

As chairman of Gespa's board of directors, Moner-Banet oversees the licensing and supervision of land-based casinos and licensed online gambling operators in Switzerland, as well as enforcement and sanctioning decisions under Swiss gambling law. Gespa is a federal public body, so his role is regulatory rather than commercial; he does not work for a casino, operator, or gambling supplier.

His decisions help determine which operators may legally offer casino-style games in Switzerland and how they comply with the Money Gaming Act. Since Gespa is the national gambling regulator, Moner-Banet's public profile is defined by this oversight mandate and by his leadership of the Federal Gaming Board.
