Jeff Van Drew
U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District
Jeff Van Drew is the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, a role he has held since January 2019. Before entering Congress, he operated a dental practice for 30 years and held a series of elected offices at the local and state levels, including Dennis Township Fire Commissioner, Mayor, Cape May County Freeholder, member of the New Jersey General Assembly, and New Jersey State Senator.
As a state senator, Van Drew co-sponsored the 2018 legislation that authorized and regulated sports betting in New Jersey following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the federal ban (PASPA). This bill, signed into law, allowed New Jersey to become a major hub for legal sports wagering, with significant economic impact on the state’s casinos and racetracks.
Originally elected to Congress as a Democrat, Van Drew switched to the Republican Party in December 2020. He serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, where he continues to advocate for South Jersey’s interests.
