Johanna Recktenwald

Paralympic athlete and recipient of the Tipico Champion Fund

Johanna Recktenwald is a German Paralympic athlete with a visual impairment who competes in Para Nordic skiing, primarily biathlon and cross-country. She is a world champion in Para Nordic skiing and won a bronze medal in the vision-impaired biathlon individual event at the 2026 Milano Cortina Paralympics. Recktenwald uses a guide, Emily Weiss, during competition.

Recktenwald is an advocate for inclusion and disability awareness, having delivered a TEDx talk in Freiburg in 2023. Her public speaking and athletic achievements highlight the capabilities of athletes with disabilities and promote greater accessibility in sports.

In 2025 she was selected as one of 62 elite athletes for the Tipico Champion Fund, a personalised financial-support initiative run by the sports-betting company Tipico in partnership with Germany’s Sporthilfe foundation. This sponsorship underscores her standing as a top-tier Paralympic athlete and connects her to the iGaming industry.
