Matthew L. Morgan, a citizen of the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations, has spent more than 25 years in tribal governance and Indian gaming. He serves as Special Envoy for the Chickasaw Nation, representing the Nation in a diplomatic capacity to federal, state, tribal and local officials. Simultaneously, he chairs the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association, the Chickasaw Tax Commission, and the Chickasaw Public Defender Board, and serves as an associate justice for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Appellate Court.

Throughout his tenure with the Chickasaw Nation, Morgan has held key positions including Executive Officer and General Counsel for Governmental Affairs and Partnerships, Director of Gaming Affairs, two-term Gaming Commissioner, and Associate General Counsel. He also co-chaired the Tribal Gaming Working Group from 2006 to 2011 and served as an eastern Oklahoma board delegate for the Indian Gaming Association. Beyond tribal government, he has been active in statewide civic leadership, serving on the Oklahoma Academy board and as a member of Leadership Oklahoma Class 38.

Morgan earned his law degree and his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He lives on the Chickasaw Nation Reservation with his wife and four children.
