Michael Bond

Managing Director, Business Development & Investor Relations at Montanova Capital / Averill Strategies

Michael Bond is a former Illinois State Senator (Democrat, 2006–2010) who transitioned into a prominent role in the state's video gambling industry. After leaving the legislature, he became the leader of Tap Room Gaming, a Libertyville-based video gambling machine operator that grew into one of Illinois' largest. In January 2020, Tap Room Gaming was sold to J&J Ventures Gaming, the second-largest video gaming terminal operator in Illinois.

Following the sale, Bond moved into real estate investment and business development with a focus on gaming properties. He currently serves as Managing Director, Business Development & Investor Relations at Montanova Capital, also associated with Averill Strategies. In this role, he is involved in financing and developing casino projects, including the North Point Casino effort in Waukegan.

Bond's background combines political influence—having used campaign funds and dark-money PACs—with deep operational experience in the Illinois video gambling market. His career illustrates the close ties between state politics and the expanding gambling industry in Illinois.
