Peter Done

Peter Eric Done (born 6 February 1947 in Salford, England) is an English billionaire businessman. He left school at 15 to work in his father’s illegal bookmaking operation, and at 17 was managing a betting shop. In 1967 he and his brother Fred founded Done Brothers, later renamed Betfred, which grew into one of the UK’s largest bookmaking chains with over 1,650 shops. In 1983 Done co‑founded Professional Personnel and Management Services Limited (now Peninsula Business Services) after a costly employment tribunal. When the business was failing in 1989, he and his brother tossed a coin to decide who would lead the turnaround; Peter won and became full‑time head of Peninsula. Under his leadership Peninsula grew into a major HR and employment‑law advisory firm. He remains Group Managing Director of Peninsula and a co‑owner of Betfred. He is also a Forbes contributor and has appeared in the BBC CEO Secrets series.
