Professor Davis Fong
Director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming and Professor in Integrated Resort and Tourism Management, University of Macau
Professor Davis Ka Chio Fong holds a PhD in Quantitative Economics from Tsinghua University. He is a Professor in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau and serves as Director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming. He also acts as an advisor to the Macao Economy team of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Economics and Management at UM.
His research and professional work focus on Macau's gaming industry, responsible gambling, integrated resort management, and tourism economics. He has lectured internationally on these topics, including in Cape Verde and the United States, and has presented seminars to major gaming operators such as Sands China Ltd.
Fong's contributions to the field include his role as a judge for the G2E Asia Awards and his insights on the role of government in promoting responsible gambling in Macau, as featured in GGB Magazine. He has been with the University of Macau for many years, previously serving as Associate Professor of International Integrated Resort Management before being promoted to Professor.
In 2025, he delivered lectures in Cape Verde as part of UM's academic exchange, further solidifying his expertise in the global gaming and tourism sectors.
