Stan Cho

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, Ontario

Stan Cho is the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming for the Government of Ontario, a role he assumed in June 2024. He oversees the province's commercial gaming policy and its rapidly growing regulated iGaming market. A second-generation Korean-Canadian, Cho was born on September 14, 1977, and grew up in Toronto's Willowdale neighbourhood.

Cho attended York Mills Collegiate and the University of Toronto, where he played varsity rugby and served in student government. He began his professional career at Mercedes-Benz Credit in a low-level position, eventually becoming an auditor. He later returned to help manage his family's real estate brokerage, running it for five years to allow his father to retire.

Entering politics, Cho was elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Willowdale in 2018. He served as Parliamentary Assistant to the President of the Treasury Board (2018–2019) and then to the Minister of Finance (2019–2021). In 2021, he was appointed Associate Minister of Transportation, where he helped introduce the One Fare transit program and bring debit/credit payments to GTHA transit systems. He became Minister of Long-Term Care in September 2023 before moving to his current portfolio in June 2024.
