Founded in 2017 by ThePOGG, an Alternative Dispute Resolution service, BetBlocker was created to remove financial and social barriers to self-exclusion by offering its blocking software at no cost and without requiring any registration or personal data. The tool currently blocks access to over 350,000 gambling operator websites and 1,800 gambling apps, covering both regulated and unregulated platforms. It is available on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, and Fire OS, and supports over 20 languages. BetBlocker is funded entirely through grants, donations, and charitable support, ensuring impartiality from the gambling industry. In August 2025, the charity announced a partnership with the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) to promote adoption across the United States, alongside plans to release a scheduling tool for advance restriction planning. With more than 63,000 active devices, BetBlocker serves individuals seeking short-term breaks or long-term exclusion, as well as parents wanting to restrict gambling content on children’s devices.
