Detailed Review

History & Corporate Evolution

Agilysys began as Pioneer-Standard Electronics, Inc., formed in 1963 through the merger of Standard Radio (established 1932) and Pioneer Electronics Supply (established 1946). The company went public on NASDAQ in 1971 under the ticker PIOS and operated as a broad-line electronics distributor for decades. In 2003, management decided to pivot toward software and services, rebranding the entity as Agilysys, Inc. (ticker changed to AGYS). Over the following decade, Agilysys divested its distribution and retail divisions, culminating in 2013 when it became exclusively focused on the hospitality industry. Since then, the company has built out a comprehensive suite of software solutions serving gaming, hotel, foodservice, and healthcare operators.

Ramesh Srinivasan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2017. Prior to Agilysys, he served as CEO of Ooyala Inc., President and CEO of Innotrac Corporation (which merged with eBay Enterprise), and President and CEO of Bally Technologies (now Light and Wonder). Under Srinivasan, Agilysys has pursued a cloud-first, subscription-based model, driven organic growth, and executed selective acquisitions such as ALICE (guest experience platform) and Book4Time (spa and activity scheduling). Dave Wood serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, having joined Agilysys in 2011 as Controller of the Hospitality Division and being promoted through finance leadership roles before becoming CFO in May 2020.
