History & Founding

Octoplay was founded in October 2022 with the singular goal of creating the world's best online slot games. The company operates under the legal trading name "Octoplay," with its primary operating entity being Gameshop Limited, registered in the UK, and Gameshop Malta Limited handling key licensing and distribution. The company’s earliest activities focused on developing its proprietary RGS platform and building a game studio capable of producing high-quality, original content.

Licensing & Market Expansion

Unlike many start-ups that focus on a single region, Octoplay pursued a multi-jurisdictional licensing strategy from the outset. It holds a Corporate Group Critical Gaming Supply license from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA/CRP/981/2022), a UK Gambling Commission license (000-061756-R-336614-001), and licenses from the Romanian National Gambling Office, the Hellenic Gaming Commission, Spelinspektionen (Sweden), the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the Spillemyndigheden (Denmark), and the Michigan Gaming Control Board. This regulatory portfolio has enabled the company to launch in 17+ regulated markets spanning Europe, North America, and Latin America. In North America, Octoplay made its US debut via BetMGM in New Jersey and Michigan in 2025, and has secured a conditional license to launch in Alberta once the province’s regulated iGaming market opens.

Products & Platform

Octoplay’s core offering is its proprietary RGS (Remote Gaming Server) platform, which allows operators to integrate its entire game portfolio quickly. The company’s game library consists of approximately 80 video slots, produced across multiple in-house studios. Key titles include: "Pearly Shores," "Heavy Anchor," "Hot Harvest," "Disco Dive," and "Blazing Touch." Octoplay also offers a "Smash" game category, which appears to be a unique branded mechanic (e.g., "Jackpot Blitz"). The company has moved beyond simple distribution into custom content creation; for Entain, it developed a dedicated "Jackpot Blitz" jackpot system, four bespoke games in 2025 (including a Coral-branded title and an Elvis Presley™-themed slot that launched exclusively via BetMGM in the US), with two further custom projects in development.

Partnerships & Growth

Octoplay has formed strategic partnerships with major operators, including Soft2Bet (for European distribution), Entain (for global expansion across 11+ markets), Paf (for Nordic expansion), and BetMGM (for US market entry). The partnership with Entain has been particularly significant, with Entain’s Global Gaming Director, Obdulio Bacarese, praising Octoplay’s "creative ambition and operational speed." Octoplay’s Elvis Presley™ game series was voted in the top 3 for IP-Led Games & Crossovers by top operators in GamblingIQ’s "The Lucky 7" 2026 edition, indicating strong market recognition.
