History and Founding

Securepoint GmbH was founded in 1997 by Claudia and Lutz Hausmann in Lüneburg, Germany, starting as a small IT system house. Over the years it grew into a dedicated cybersecurity vendor, focusing on the needs of mid-sized enterprises and public-sector clients in the German-speaking market. The company remained founder-led until 2018 when Maxburg Fund III made an investment, beginning a transition to professional management. In mid‑2022 René Hofmann became managing director, followed by Maximilian Senff in mid‑2024, both overseeing the company’s expansion and increased recurring revenue.

Business Model

Securepoint uses an indirect channel model exclusively, partnering with over 4,800 system houses and managed security service providers (MSPs) in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Its partners offer Securepoint solutions both as traditional on‑premise software and as managed security services (MSSP) on a subscription or rental basis. This approach allows partners to build predictable recurring revenue while Securepoint focuses on product development and partner support. The company’s ‘Made in Germany’ and ‘backdoor-free’ guarantees differentiate it from international competitors, ensuring compliance with strict German data protection laws.

Securepoint’s portfolio is built around the Unified Security concept, integrating multiple protection layers. Core products include the Securepoint UTM Firewall (available as hardware and Firewall-as-a-Service), Securepoint Antivirus Pro for endpoint protection, Securepoint Mobile Security for smartphones and tablets, Securepoint Backup & Email Archiving, Securepoint VPN for encrypted remote access, and Securepoint Cyber Awareness Training to educate employees. Securepoint is a leading cybersecurity platform in the DACH SME market, protecting over 120,000 networks through its partner ecosystem. It holds TeleTrust certifications and is a member of the Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit e.V. and the Alliance for Cyber Security (a BSI initiative). The company has not announced significant international expansion beyond the DACH region. In 2024, a continuation fund transaction led by Accel‑KKR alongside Maxburg provided capital for organic growth and selective acquisitions. The first strategic add-on came in October 2025 with the acquisition of SecuLution, broadening endpoint security capabilities. Securepoint continues to invest in product development and partner training through the Securepoint Academy.
