Esportes Gaming Brasil has been shortlisted for a Global Gaming Awards Americas 2026 honour through its carnival-focused Costura Cidadã citizenship project, which provided sewing training for more than 80 women and supported local communities during the festivities.
Esportes Gaming Brasil (EGB), the group behind Esportes da Sorte, Onabet and Lottu, has been shortlisted for the Global Gaming Awards Americas 2026. The company's nomination in the Responsible Business of the Year category centres on Costura Cidadã (Citizen Sewing), a project built around Olinda's Carnival to generate income, develop skills and reinforce the local creative economy.
The flagship activity saw more than 80 local women trained in sewing and textile production. Their output supplied EGB's own Carnival activations, including the official banner, while opening up employment avenues and strengthening participants' financial independence.
"Our focus is on being present within local communities, providing meaningful support and creating a lasting social and environmental legacy," said Vice President Marcela Campos. She added that the international recognition underlines the company's drive to pair cultural and entertainment investment with local economic growth and social-environmental responsibility.
The nomination covers a wider set of community and environmental actions run during the 2026 Carnival. The company supplied licensed street vendors with customised stalls and complete kits featuring branded shirts, cool boxes, umbrellas and waist bags. More than 40 historic Carnival groups that parade without ropes or special-access passes were supported, with EGB saying the effort helps preserve the democratic and inclusive atmosphere of Olinda's biggest cultural event.
In Recife and Salvador, recyclable waste collectors received training in proper waste disposal, personal protective equipment, hydration and daily cash incentives for the duration of the festivities. In Caicó, Rio Grande do Norte, EGB turned to local manufacturers for a large portion of the promotional headwear used in its Carnival activities. The group also implemented carbon offset measures to cover emissions from its operations, plus responsible waste management and material reuse.
A judging panel of senior gaming industry executives selects the winners, with KPMG independently overseeing the process. Organisers noted that the evidence behind EGB's nomination came mainly from media coverage of Costura Cidadã.
Iury Tavares, Press Manager at Esportes Gaming Brasil, said: "It demonstrates how effective communications can increase the visibility of social impact initiatives and help best practices reach audiences far beyond their local communities." The award ceremony is set for 28 September at The Venetian in Las Vegas, held alongside the Global Gaming Expo (G2E).
