Genius Sports puts official data at the core of Polymarket and Kalshi prediction markets

Follows on from Genius Sports to Supply Official Data and Integrity Backing for Kalshi (2026-08-07)

Genius Sports signed separate official-data and integrity agreements with prediction market operators Polymarket and Kalshi, with the Polymarket deal also adding exclusive Serie A U.S. streaming. The pacts flanked a Q2 earnings beat and helped send Genius shares up nearly 25% on the week.

Two platforms, one data layer

Genius Sports has signed separate official-data, integrity and marketing agreements with Polymarket and Kalshi, placing its verified sports data beneath the settlement layer of two rival prediction market operators. The Polymarket deal was announced on Aug. 4 and the Kalshi deal on Aug. 5; neither company disclosed financial terms.

Under the Polymarket agreement, Genius Sports will supply the CFTC-regulated platform with real-time official event data that determines how covered sports contracts resolve, alongside integrity services and participation in the company's information-sharing processes. The deal also grants Polymarket exclusive U.S. streaming rights and league IP for selected competitions, including Serie A, letting the platform pair live Serie A streams with related real-time event contracts. Genius will also support Polymarket's expansion through digital marketing on Legend-owned media properties. Polymarket's president of sports business development, Ari Borod, said live streaming, official data and integrity infrastructure help create "an engaging product that customers can depend on," while Genius Sports' EVP of rights and partnerships, Sean Conroy, called robust integrity safeguards "foundational" as the category expands. Polymarket's sports operation already spans league partnerships with MLB, Liga MX, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, MLS, NHL and UFC.

The Kalshi agreement covers real-time data across a broader soccer portfolio — English Premier League, Serie A, Liga MX, Argentine Primera División and Ligue 1 — which Kalshi will use as the single source of truth for settling sports event contracts. Kalshi will also join Genius Sports' information-sharing framework, restrict certain market types and take marketing services through Legend-owned media properties. Adam Barrick, Kalshi's head of sports partnerships, said official data and integrity services are "more important than ever" as prediction markets expand. Genius noted that the Polymarket pact took effect immediately for eligible U.S. users; Kalshi's release did not specify a start date.

Q2 results and Legend synergies

The announcements landed a day before Genius Sports reported second-quarter results on Aug. 6. Revenue rose 65% to $195.5 million, ahead of the $185 million guidance, and adjusted EBITDA came in at $52.6 million against $45 million guided. Net loss widened to $76.7 million from $53.9 million, largely reflecting costs tied to Legend. The company attributed the beat to early synergies from the Legend acquisition, media execution and an incremental contribution from prediction markets — a contribution that neither new deal could have produced, since both were signed after the quarter closed. It raised full-year revenue guidance to $1.005-$1.025 billion and adjusted EBITDA to $285-$295 million.

Genius closed the Legend acquisition on May 1 in a deal valued at up to $1.2 billion, with $900 million due at closing and up to $300 million in earnout, bringing properties including Covers.com and Casino.org and roughly 180 million owned users. Chief executive Mark Locke said the company owns the official data the regulated ecosystem depends on "and the audience layer on top of it." Investors read the deals positively: shares rose about 14% on Aug. 4, added roughly 2% the next day, and closed the week at $8.33, up almost 25%.

Market and regulatory context

The partnerships follow Sportradar's similar multi-year agreements with both Kalshi and Polymarket in June, and both platforms had already worked with Genius Sports on World Cup-related properties, such as Kalshi's Argentine Football Association partnership and Polymarket's Liga MX U.S. sponsorship. July combined volume across Kalshi, Polymarket and Polymarket US hit a record $50.59 billion per The Block's data, though contract resales mean that figure overstates funds at risk. The deals also come as prediction markets face legal scrutiny: on Aug. 4, a federal judge granted Utah summary judgment against Kalshi over its sports event contracts, rejecting the exchange's preemption arguments — a decision Kalshi is appealing to the Tenth Circuit.
