IBIA logs 76 suspicious betting alerts across nine sports in Q2 2026

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) flagged 76 suspicious betting alerts during the second quarter of 2026, covering nine different sports and forwarded to relevant authorities for investigation.

Football generated the highest number of alerts at 25, followed by esports (16) and basketball (10). Tennis produced nine alerts, while darts, greyhound racing, cricket, table tennis, and volleyball accounted for the remainder.

Geographically, Europe contributed the largest share with 33% of all alerts. South America followed at 22%, Africa at 15%, and 21% were classified as global events without a single location. Country-level trends showed football alerts distributed across Africa, Europe, Oceania, and South America. All esports alerts were global events. Basketball alerts were concentrated in South America, particularly Paraguay and Colombia. Greyhound alerts all originated in Ireland, and darts alerts were tied exclusively to UK events.

The report also examined Canada, where regulated markets have driven betting activity into monitored environments. IBIA's athlete education programme, supported by members bet365, Betway, and FanDuel, has already reached nearly 200 Canadian Premier League players and staff, with plans to expand to Canadian Football League athletes.

IBIA's integrity monitoring network comprises over 90 companies and more than 200 betting brands. It analyses customer activity across over $300 billion in annual betting turnover and monitors more than 1.5 million sporting events each year.

Recent developments in 2026 include network expansion with new members Boyle Sports and Holland Gaming Technology, and a regulatory partnership with Chile's Association of Online Betting Platforms (APAL) to strengthen international cooperation.
