iM Securities Chief Joins Seoul Police Campaign Against Youth Gambling

iM Securities CEO Park Tae-dong has signed on to a relay campaign organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency aimed at curbing illegal gambling among South Korean youth. The initiative tasks participants with spreading the message that "illegal online gambling targeting youth is a crime you can never win," as each member nominates another individual to keep the campaign moving.

Park was nominated by Daishin Securities CEO Jin Seung-wook and, after taking part, selected LS Securities CEO Hong Won-sik as his successor. The effort is designed to build public consensus around shielding young people from the dangers of unauthorized gambling.

Park described illegal gambling by minors as a serious societal problem that could steer them into deeper criminal activity later in life. He expressed hope the campaign would raise awareness and contribute to a healthier environment for young people.

The move comes alongside broader South Korean police efforts to address rising youth cyber gambling. Last week, esports star Lee Sang-hyeok—widely known as Faker—was appointed an honorary police officer and ambassador for the Korean National Police Agency's youth cyber gambling prevention campaign. Faker is promoting a separate voluntary reporting program that runs from May 18 to August 31, through which teenagers who disclose their own involvement can receive counseling from school police officers and gambling prevention specialists.
