Lio Chi Chong Reappointed as Acting Head of Macau Gaming Regulator

Lio Chi Chong has again been appointed Acting Director of Macau's DICJ following Ng Wai Han's promotion to Secretary for Economy and Finance, marking his second time in the role in under two years.
Lio Chi Chong has once again taken the helm of Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) on an interim basis, following the elevation of former director Ng Wai Han to the post of Secretary for Economy and Finance.
This marks the second time in less than two years that Lio, the bureau's Deputy Director, has stepped into the acting director role. He previously served in that capacity starting in December 2024, after then-Director Ho Hoi Han left to become Director General of Macau Customs.
Lio held the acting position until Ng Wai Han officially became the DICJ's first female director in May 2025. Ng's term at the head of the gaming regulator was renewed this past May, but just one month later she was appointed as the Macau Special Administrative Region's Secretary for Economy and Finance.
Since Ng's departure, the DICJ Director post has remained unfilled, prompting Lio to once again assume acting duties. Ng's new role was approved by the State Council on June 10, following a nomination by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai.
The Secretary for Economy and Finance position had been vacant since April 16, when former secretary Tai Kin Ip resigned for personal reasons. Tai later joined the board of Macau International Airport.
