Tai Kin Ip

Tai Kin Ip served as the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government, a position he held from December 2024 until his resignation in April 2025. In this role, he oversaw Macau's economy, finance, and, critically, the city's casino and gaming industry, including the six major concessionaires. His appointment came with a mandate to reduce Macau's heavy reliance on gambling revenue and diversify the economy through initiatives such as the low-altitude economy and regional cooperation with Guangdong.

Prior to becoming Secretary, Tai held several key government roles. He was Deputy Director of the Macau Economic Services around 2002 and later headed the executive committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. His career has been closely tied to economic policy and cross-border development.

Tai's resignation for personal reasons was announced in April 2025, and the State Council removed him from office. The head of Macau's casino regulator was appointed as his replacement. Since leaving the government, no new confirmed role has been publicly reported, though unverified reports suggest possible involvement with the Macau International Airport Company (CAM) or continued leadership of the Hengqin executive committee.
