Macau Operators Deepen Community Bus Push with New Rewards and Expanded Routes
2026-07-16
MGM and SJM are expanding their participation in Macau's Tourism and Leisure Buses initiative with new stamp rewards, additional shuttle services, and merchant partnerships to drive foot traffic into local communities and support SMEs.
Macau's integrated resort operators are scaling up their participation in the government's "Tourism and Leisure Buses: Exploring Community Charms" initiative, adding new shuttle services and visitor incentives designed to steer foot traffic into local neighborhoods and support small and medium-sized enterprises.
MGM Launches Stamp Rewards
MGM will debut its "Leisure Shuttle Stamp Rewards" campaign on July 17, becoming the first operator to formally partner with merchants along the shuttle routes. Passengers boarding MGM's Leisure Bus will receive a stamp-collection map; making a purchase at any of the more than 40 participating shops—spanning restaurants, retail, souvenir outlets, and lifestyle services—earns a stamp. Once visitors accumulate enough stamps, they can redeem limited-edition MGM gifts at the Ticketing Counter in the Lion Lobby of MGM COTAI. The operator has also produced dedicated promotional leaflets highlighting the discounts available at partner establishments.
To handle expected higher demand, MGM has added its MGM Macau property as a new boarding point. In addition to existing weekend operations, the second phase introduces Friday services from July 17 to August 30, along with extra runs during the National Day, Christmas, and New Year holidays. MGM's community outreach team visited local neighborhoods between May and July to introduce the program and will continue promotional activities through the second half of the year.
SJM Enhances Shuttle Services
SJM Resorts is also expanding its role in the initiative's second phase, which runs from July 17, 2026 through January 3, 2027. The company will add new departures from Grand Lisboa while operating five shuttle routes with ten scheduled services on weekends. Friday services will be introduced during the summer holiday period, followed by special holiday operations later in the year. As part of its promotional push, SJM will distribute cash vouchers or promotional coupons to passengers on the Barra Temple route, encouraging visits to Kam Pek Market and surrounding districts.
Together, the enhanced shuttle networks and merchant partnerships reflect a broader effort by Macau's integrated resorts to strengthen the link between tourism and local community development, creating new business opportunities for small merchants while offering visitors added incentives to explore beyond the casino floors.
