Sphere Las Vegas warehouse workers vote to join Teamsters Local 986

A group of 22 warehouse workers at The Sphere in Las Vegas has voted overwhelmingly to unionize with Teamsters Local 986, citing demands for higher pay, safer conditions and greater respect in the workplace. The employees are responsible for receiving and managing all deliveries to the venue, which generated roughly $781.4m in revenue during 2025.\n\nWarehouse worker Beverly Wilson said the organizing campaign gave her and her colleagues pride, and that joining the Teamsters means their voices will be heard. She added that the win marks the start of positive changes. Tommy Blitsch, director of the Teamsters Convention, Trade Show and Casino Division, described the workers as "the heartbeat of the Sphere" and noted they set the standard at one of the world's most high-profile venues as part of a wider movement of casino, arena and convention center staff seeking their fair share.\n\nThe vote follows another recent Teamsters win in the region: on August 4, 22 slot attendants and dual rates at Blue Chip Casino Hotel & Spa voted to join Teamsters Local 135, marking the union's first organizing win at a Boyd Gaming property. That group is pushing for higher pay, better benefits and improved working conditions, having marched on June 23 in support of union representation.\n\nSeparately, The Sphere's footprint could expand beyond Las Vegas. A proposed Maryland venue would be a mini version of the original, standing over 300 feet tall near MGM National Harbor, with a construction timeline of three to four years and an estimated cost of more than $1bn.
