Yggdrasil Strengthens Balkan Presence with Operator Deals and Product Expansion

The Balkans have become a strategic priority for Yggdrasil, which is making headway across multiple jurisdictions in the region. Regional Manager Paulina Ostrzycka calls the area "very important" for the company, pointing to recent go‑live events in Croatia with Admiralbet and a simultaneous strengthening of its Serbian presence through the same partner. In Romania, Yggdrasil launched with Betano, one of that country’s largest operators, and intends to extend that collaboration into Serbia and Croatia. Ostrzycka notes that Serbia stands out as the firm’s strongest Balkan market, while Greece also demonstrates considerable strength. The supplier’s goal is to link up with the biggest operators in the region and maintain ongoing player engagement.

Top Performing Titles

Within Yggdrasil’s game portfolio, two titles have risen above the rest: Valley of the Gods and Barbarossa DoubleMax. Despite their different themes—Ancient Egypt versus pirate adventures—both games share high volatility and multiplier mechanics, which Ostrzycka says players clearly enjoy. The company plans to bring these high‑revenue titles to additional markets.

Future Milestones

Yggdrasil’s immediate focus is on integrating more operators in Croatia while simultaneously expanding into the Czech Republic alongside its existing Croatian and Serbian activity. The supplier is also leveraging its Game in a Box technology to streamline game development and its YGG Masters Program to attract independent studios. “We have a lot of products that we can work on with operators,” Ostrzycka said, expressing a desire to unite more studios and operators.

Addressing the Black Market

Asked about the threat posed by unregulated gambling in the Balkans, Ostrzycka downplayed the risks, arguing that regulated markets offer effective promotional tools—such as tournaments, free spins, and missions—that allow operators to compete on equal footing. Yggdrasil certifies all its games to prevent unauthorised distribution. However, she cautioned that regulators must collaborate more closely with industry stakeholders to keep the black market from expanding. “Sometimes I think that regulators don’t listen to operators and it takes ages to try and fix issues,” she added, stressing the need for joint effort.
