Brian Martin AO KC is an Australian jurist who served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory from 1993 to 2008. He was appointed to that court as a judge in 1988 and retired in 2008. In 2010 he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the judiciary and the law.
In April 2024, AUSTRAC announced that SkyCity Adelaide Pty Ltd had entered into an enforceable undertaking with AUSTRAC, under which SkyCity Adelaide agreed to pay AU$21 million and carry out a major anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing compliance overhaul. Martin was appointed as the independent AML/CTF Examiner under that undertaking, responsible for reviewing and reporting on SkyCity Adelaide’s remediation.
His current focus is monitoring SkyCity Adelaide’s compliance overhaul, covering areas such as anti-money laundering policies and procedures, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, transaction monitoring, and reporting obligations. The appointment is an external, quasi-regulatory oversight function rather than a gambling-industry corporate role.
