Sir Sandy Crombie

Sir Sandy Crombie is an actuary by training who joined Standard Life in 1966 as a trainee actuary, rising through the ranks to become Chief Executive of Standard Life Investments in 1994 and then Group Chief Executive of Standard Life plc from 2004 until his retirement in 2009. He was knighted in 2009 for services to the insurance industry in Scotland.

After retiring from Standard Life, Crombie served as Senior Independent Director of Royal Bank of Scotland until early 2018. He then transitioned into leadership roles in the fintech and legal-tech sectors, taking on chairmanships at LendingCrowd, Edinburgh Alternative Finance, and Amiqus. He also serves as President of the Cockburn Association, a conservation charity.

Crombie's career has been entirely in insurance, banking, fintech lending, legal tech, and civic conservation, with no involvement in the iGaming or gambling industry. His actuarial background and decades of experience in financial services have made him a respected figure in Scottish business and civic life.
