The Boring Company
Bastrop, Texas, USA
The Boring Company is an American tunnel-construction and underground-transit company founded by Elon Musk in December 2016. Established initially under SpaceX’s umbrella in Hawthorne, California, the company is best known for the Loop, a network of narrow tunnels through which Tesla vehicles transport passengers point-to-point beneath congested streets. Its first commercial system opened at the Las Vegas Convention Center in June 2021 and has since grown into the Vegas Loop, a citywide network serving casino-resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, including Resorts World, Westgate, Encore and, from August 2026, Sahara Las Vegas. The company designs and manufactures its own Prufrock tunnel-boring machines at its headquarters in Bastrop, Texas, and targets dramatically lower construction costs than conventional subway systems. A $675 million funding round in 2022, led by Vy Capital, valued the company at about $5.675 billion. Las Vegas remains its only operating transit network, although the company has proposed Loop systems in several other U.S. cities. The Boring Company is classified as a transportation provider; its appearance in iGaming-related coverage reflects the location of its stations inside Las Vegas hotel-casinos rather than any gambling product line.
