1win was founded in 2016 as FirstBet before rebranding to 1win in 2018. The privately held company is headquartered in Willemstad, Curaçao, and holds a Curaçao gaming license, serving users in over 50 countries across Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Licensing & Regulation

1win holds a license from the Government of Curaçao as a sub-license holder. The platform has faced regulatory restrictions in Kazakhstan, where it was blocked and investigated for operating without local licenses and allowing minors to gamble, and in Russia, where it is blocked as an unlicensed bookmaker. In Ukraine, the platform operated without a license, drawing regulatory scrutiny. Security & Data Breach

In November 2024, 1win suffered a major data breach affecting an estimated 96–100 million users, with stolen data including email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, geolocation, dates of birth, and SHA-256-hashed passwords. The dataset was later added to Have I Been Pwned. Extortion demands reached up to $15 million, and portions of the data were posted on underground forums. The company subsequently enhanced security with multi-layer encryption and real-time risk monitoring.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Through 1win Charity, the company has funded community projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including electrification of 1,000 households in Dharavi, India; free health-screening camps in Nigeria; support for cancer patients at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana; plastic-recycling programs; and wildfire relief in Chile. Future Outlook

In July 2026, 1win announced the expansion of its Web3 ecosystem with further development of the 1win Token, including new staking mechanisms, decentralized exchange (DEX) integration, and token-based governance features.
