Soft2Bet's MEGA11 gamification engine uses a football manager game to boost sportsbook retention, delivering significant uplifts in net gaming revenue and player engagement by turning downtime between fixtures into active progression.
The iGaming industry is grappling with a retention challenge as younger players, raised on interactive digital experiences, expect more than traditional VIP programmes. Deloitte’s 2025 Digital Media Trends report notes that younger audiences split their entertainment time across streaming, social platforms, and gaming, cultivating a preference for progress-driven engagement.
Soft2Bet’s latest gamification engine, MEGA11, aims to bridge this gap by merging sports betting with a football manager game. Chief product officer Yoel Zuckerberg explains that the tool blends behavioural analytics, player progression, and gamification to maintain bettor interest between matches.
Reimagining retention
The classic tiered VIP model still has its place, but it no longer aligns with how many younger players behave online, Zuckerberg argues. Instead, when a player places a bet or starts a session, the surrounding product must deliver the progress, feedback, and status they have come to expect. Soft2Bet’s MEGA (Motivational Engineering Gaming Application) portfolio provides operators with a standalone gamification solution. MEGA11, launched in early 2026, extends this approach to sportsbooks through a football manager game centred on squad building, competition, and progression.
Tangible results
Soft2Bet reports that the MEGA portfolio has achieved a 65% uplift in net gaming revenue on average, alongside a 45% rise in average revenue per user, a fourfold increase in screen time, 50% higher deposit amounts, and a 30% lift in deposit frequency. These figures underscore the value of embedding retention tools directly into the product experience.
Building for engagement
MEGA11 uses a free-to-play core with a soft-currency model. Players earn points through qualifying bets, advance their football-manager journey, and unlock sportsbook bonuses. Qualifying bets feed into squad management, line-up choices, league competitions, and progression tiers. The engine integrates via a simple API, allowing operators to add gamification without overhauling their existing platform.
Optimising live campaigns
Zuckerberg outlines three steps for operators to maximise engagement. First, build journeys around player intent—a newly verified football bettor should not receive the same treatment as a regular accumulator player. Second, add missions and tournaments without slowing platform performance. MEGA11 works as a standalone product, so speed remains unaffected. Third, use real-time dashboards to track cohort data, repeat-deposit rates, wagering frequency, and reward response. “With that information, MEGA11 dashboards can help teams adjust campaign rules, rewards and communication before a cohort falls behind its payback target,” says Zuckerberg.
The product layer
Retention is shifting into the product layer itself. “Retention is moving into the product layer, with progress, missions, social features and segmentation giving players clearer reasons to return,” Zuckerberg notes. He adds that “attention costs more to acquire”, making it vital for retention to be built into the experience. MEGA11 transforms standard sportsbook activity into an active, ongoing player journey between fixtures and campaigns, ensuring football’s constant appeal extends beyond the final whistle.
