European Advertising Standards Alliance
Rue des Deux Églises 26 / Tweekerkenstraat 26, B-1000 Brussels, Belgium
The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) is a non-profit organisation headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, that serves as the single authoritative voice on advertising self-regulation in Europe and beyond. Founded in May 1992 in response to an EU challenge to create a self-regulatory solution for the emerging Single Market, EASA coordinates a network of national self-regulatory organisations (SROs), industry bodies representing advertisers, agencies and media, and digital pure-play members. Its core mission is to ensure that advertisements across all media are legal, decent, honest and truthful, thereby fostering consumer trust in brands and advertising. EASA administers a cross-border complaints system, provides best-practice recommendations, and advocates for effective independent self-regulation as a complement to statutory regulation. Through its secretariat and member network, the alliance handles hundreds of thousands of consumer complaints annually, pre-clears millions of ads, and offers copy advice to advertisers.
