MGM Grand Detroit names new table games and slot operations VPs

MGM Grand Detroit has made two key leadership appointments, naming Eric Sprague as Vice President of Table Game Operations and Terry Briggs as Vice President of Slot Operations.

Sprague will oversee all table-game activities at the property, with a focus on guest experience, operational efficiency, team member development, and regulatory compliance. Matt Buckley, President and COO of MGM Grand Detroit, described Sprague as a “highly respected gaming professional” whose broad background in table games and casino operations makes him a strong addition to the executive team.

Before joining MGM Grand Detroit, Sprague held roles at other MGM properties: he was Senior Manager of Slot Technical at MGM National Harbor in Maryland and most recently served as Director and VP of Casino Operations at MGM Springfield in Massachusetts. He began his casino career in April 2014 as Assistant Shift Manager for Table Games at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.

Terry Briggs was appointed VP of Slot Operations on May 14. He will manage the property’s slot machine portfolio and explore ways to optimise the gaming floor. Briggs previously served as Director of Slot Operations for Golden Nugget Lake Charles in Louisiana and held casino operations management roles at several Penn National Gaming properties. He also spent nearly two years as Executive Director of Operations at Tortoise Rock Casino, and prior to that had a 23-year tenure at Bally’s Casino Tunica.

In June 2026, MGM Grand Detroit led all retail casinos in the city with $47.6 million in combined slot and table game revenue, though that figure represented a 1.7% decline. By comparison, MotorCity Casino reported $31.8 million (up 3.9%) and Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated $22.4 million (up 5.2%).
